Understanding Bellevue and Omaha Urgent Care and Your Medical Insurance

Does urgent care take insurance?

YES, in most cases, your insurance is accepted at our urgent care clinics. We always suggest patients call the 800-number on the back of their insurance card to verify that our clinics are in-network. “In-network” or “participating providers” agree to accept an approved amount for their services. Providers who are “out-of-network” haven’t negotiated an approved amount, so you’ll be responsible for paying the difference between the provider’s full charge and your plan’s approved amount. Bellevue and Omaha Urgent Care clinics are in-network with most major insurance companies like

  • Blue Cross/ Blue Shield
  • Aetna
  • United Health Care
  • TriCare
  • Cigna
  • Medica, etc

Unless your plan is exclusive to a hospital-connected plan like CHI.

How much does urgent care cost?

The cost of your visit depends on many factors: the medical services you require, your insurance coverage, and whether or not you receive your services at an in-network urgent care center. Most insurance policies include some or all of these components in their coverage structure.:

  • Deductible: For plans with a deductible, each benefit year you must pay the full cost of all services you receive until you reach your deductible. For example, if your deductible is $500, you pay all of your medical bills until you reach that annual $500 amount. Once your deductible is met, your insurance provider will start to cover some of the costs of your medical expenses. The amount you pay after that will depend on your co-payment and/or co-insurance
  • Co-Payment: For plans that include co-payment (also called co-pay), each health service has a pre-determined flat fee that the patient usually pays up-front. For example, if you have a co-pay of $50, you will be expected to pay that amount every time you have an office visit. The insurance provider then covers the remaining cost or a co-insurance percentage, if the deductible has already been met.
  • Co-Insurance: With co-insurance, you are responsible for paying a certain percentage of the cost of your medical treatment. For example, a common co-insurance split is 80/20- Your insurance provider will cover 80% of the remaining cost for all covered expenses, while the patient is responsible for paying 20%.

To understand which costs you are responsible for, look for these components in your health insurance policy, or contact your insurance provider. After visiting a medical office for care, your insurance company will send you an Explanation of Benefits (EOB) letter explaining the breakdown of these costs and payments.
